How to make your own organic baby massage oil

September 2, 2009 – 11:46 pm

Click here to read a great article on how to make your own organic baby massage oil. I second her choices of base oil and aromatherapy oils and her recipes for blending your own oil.

If you purchase a commercial baby oil, make sure it doesn’t contain any mineral oil. This will actually dry out your baby’s skin. Mineral oil is an ingredient in most commercial baby oils, you’ll be surprised.

Infant massage breaking the chain of child abuse

August 27, 2009 – 9:48 am

Very interesting article! I so agree with the statement that something changes when you massage a child/infant (and it’s hard to raise a hand against a child) and definitely see the link there.

Temper Tantrums eased by Nurturing Touch?

August 24, 2009 – 10:55 pm

When my oldest daughter Wies was in her “terrible-two’s and three’s” we had many struggles during the day. She pushed my boundaries to the limit. Now this is healthy toddler behaviour and needed for their development, but as a parent I found it to be very challenging. I heard myself say “no” so many times during the day; it felt like I was restricting her more then I was stimulating her in her development. At the end of a day I could feel very frustrated and sometimes had a hard time coming up with something positive for that day. I had fallen out off our routine of doing regular massages and decided to pick it up again. We did the massage in the mornings and it made me feel better right from the start. Starting the day with 15-20 minutes of loving time together, made me more patience, relaxed and confident in handling the tantrums during the day. It’s a simple solution, but for me and my daughter it did wonders.
